Sweden: Alstom Awarded New VR Maintenance Contract
As the new operator of the fleet connecting the four Bergschlag regions, VR Sweden has commissioned Alstom to maintain the fleet for another 10 years with an additional one-year option.
VR Sweden has been selected as the new train operator in the Bergslagen region
Alstom will continue to provide maintenance at the existing Gävle and Västerås workshops, which will be expanded and modernized to accommodate the new longer trains.
Alstom also plans to increase the digitization of maintenance.
The new contract, worth approximately one billion SEK (800 million EUR | 900 million USD), will start on December 10, 2023.
