CES 2023: Hit the Cabin VR experience with Canon

If there was any hope of exploring the wooden structure, he would Knock in the cabin his name, your chance has come.

Director and co-writer M. Night Shyamalan It announced on Twitter Thursday that it is partnering with Canon for an exclusive virtual reality experience available only at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (or CES for short) in Las Vegas, Nevada. After putting on the VR goggles, you will be thrown into the remote forest where the movie was shot. Not much is known about the digital adventure, but we’re guessing it involves trying to escape Leonard and his band of apocalyptic fanatics.

Adapted from the 2018 award-winning novel by Paul Tremblay — Cabin at the End of the World — the film (opening in theaters everywhere in February) tells the story of a family of three whose relaxing vacation in nature is suddenly interrupted by four strangers who claim the world will end. If a family wants to avoid the destruction of humanity, they must choose to willingly sacrifice one of their own.

Jonathan Groff (Frozen), Ben Aldridge (Pennyworth), newcomer Kristen Cui, Dave Bautista (The Glass Onion: The Secret That Opens Knives), Nikki Amuka-Bird (Old), Abby Quinn (Little Women) and Rupert Grint (servant) co-star.

Shyamalan—who adapted the source material with Steve Desmond and Michael Sherman—co-produced the feature with Marc Bienstock (Old) and Ashwin Rajan (Wayward Pines). Steven Schneider (Paranormal Activity), Christos V. Konstantakopoulos (Lobster) and Ashley Fox (Prospective Young Woman) serves as an executive producer.

“I’m drawn to things that take genres and bend them in new ways, or change genres from what you think you’re looking at,” Shyamalan explained to General movie earlier this month. “The architectural twist is part of the fun of it. Because I’m switching genres, I have to go into higher-octane genres. If you go down, even if you do it really well, there’s a certain drop-off. The high-quality quality that the audience feels.”
