Streamer bans are one of the most talked about topics in the community. Every year sees numerous content creators banned, either temporarily or indefinitely, and the last 12 months or so has been no different.

Throughout 2022, several streamers found themselves on the chopping block. With the year entering its final week, this article will feature five content creators whose bans got the community talking.

1) JiDion is banned for inciting fans to spam

Popular American streamer Jidon “JiDion,” now of YouTube, was among the first major content creators to be admonished by Twitch in 2022. He received a permanent ban for violating the platform’s Terms of Service.

In January 2022, the streamer encouraged his fans to spam the phrase “L+Ratio” on Pokimane’s Twitch stream. However, the whole ordeal was played down as JiDion took to her social media to apologize. Although he had initially received a 14-day ban, it was revised to be permanent shortly afterwards. Although Pokimane and JiDion made amends after their conflict, Twitch did not reverse its decision.


2) Twitch streamer kimmikka gets banned for live sex

While there are many ways one can get banned on Twitch, getting banned for having sex during a stream is unconventional. On August 24, a streamer by name kimmikka she was seen having a rather intimate moment with her partner, who remains unknown. This caused her to be temporarily banned.

Her story quickly hit the news as clips of her participation in the event were shared across social media. However, he returned to Twitch just a week after his ban. After the controversy, he blamed alcohol for what happened during the live broadcast.


3) Greekgodx is banned for racist gesture

Controversial online personality and streamer Dimitri “Greekgodx” is no stranger receiving bans. In July of this year, a month after his first ban of 2022, he was suspended from the platform after an IRL stream showed him making racist gestures towards a group of individuals – allegedly Asian – as he passed them on the sidewalk.

Dimitri denied any accusations of being racist, claiming he was just making “noises” that were taken out of context. His ban lasted a couple of weeks. For those wondering, he broadcasts regularly, albeit to a shrinking audience.


4) Destination prohibited for unknown reasons

Twitch streamer and political commentator Steven “Destiny,” who now streams on YouTube, was shown the door by Twitch on March 23. At the time of his ban, he had over 650,000 followers on the purple platform. O exact reason Twitch’s decision, however, remains a mystery to the community.

During a YouTube broadcast, the streamer himself confessed that he was not aware of the reason for his abrupt suspension, which is why it is a much-debated topic. This wasn’t the first time he got banned from the purple platform. In 2020, the streamer lost his Twitch partner role after he appeared to “promote violence”.


5) True Geordie banned for ‘Islamophobic’ comments.

British podcaster and YouTuber Brian “True Geordie” is the final creator to enter the ban list that has rocked the community. This streamer was banned for a week in November after he was found guilty of racial slurs insensitive jokes about the Muslims.

For those who don’t know, the remarks came from a reaction video to Andrew Tate’s conversion to Islam. Speaking about the veracity of the latter’s conversion, Brian went on to claim that Tate should “explode” himself to prove his faith. Later that week, he made a video apology confessing to his comments. The streamer has now not been banned from Twitch.
